The fifth track from Bones in the Ocean, this is a Longest Johns Original written by Dave Robinson.

Factoids[]

The second verse ("Buried under the hill...") was originally performed by Josh. Since Robbie joined the band, he has been known to replace it with a different verse: "Deep down in the grave, there's a boy that I raised...He majored in theater, 'twas kinder this way."

Lyrics[]

These lyrics are based on the version performed by the Longest Johns on their album Bones in the Ocean.

Buried under my feet there's a man I did meet,
(Tally roo ti-die roo aye-ay)
He sullied my name so I put him to sleep
(Tally roo ti-die roo-die-day) [continues throughout]

Buried under the hill is a fella' I killed
I opened his throat for he looked at me ill

Hidden under my bed there's a woman I wed
She was too hard to please, harder still now she's dead

Deep down under the sea, a crew of twenty-three
Those who've seen them now know from my banners to flee

So tell all who await that our temper is great
Those who don't heed the word cast their hand to the fate
